Mr. Lim contacted us on a Saturday morning. His wife had just complained that the living room "smelled stale" no matter how many times the windows opened. What We Found

The walk-through took 25 minutes. We always do this with the customer present so the scope is agreed in writing before the team starts. Findings:

  • Living room: Fabric sofa with two visible patches where someone had spot-cleaned with detergent — the residue had attracted dust. TV console had a 6mm layer of dust on its back-cable shelf.
  • Master bedroom: Mattress (10 years old, no protector) smelled musty, particularly the head-end. Wardrobe top had visible dust mounds. Air-con louvre had black mould-spots starting along the top edge.
  • Bathrooms (2): White cement grout had greyed in both showers. Limescale dot pattern across both shower glass panels. Toilet bowl rim under seat hinge bolts: yellowed and overlooked at every prior clean.
  • Kitchen: Range hood mesh tacky to touch. Cabinet door fronts (especially closest to the wok burner) had a thin grease-and-dust film. Inside cabinet shelves had not been wiped in over a year.
  • Balcony: Glass sliding door had a film on both sides. Floor tile had a thin dust crust that water alone wasn't lifting — a balcony facing the LDP corridor.

What We Did

We followed the standard 60-point deep-clean checklist, with sofa shampoo and mattress steam as add-ons. Sequence:

  • 09:00 – 10:30: Strip and prep — beds stripped, curtains down, sofa cushions out, all furniture moved 60cm away from walls. Top-down dry dusting started in the master bedroom.
  • 10:30 – 12:30: Cleaner A worked the kitchen — range hood mesh soaked, cabinet door fronts degreased one-by-one, inside cabinets wiped, fridge interior including rubber seal. Cleaner B worked both bathrooms — descaler dwell time on shower glass and grout, toilet seat lifted and bolts cleaned.
  • 12:30 – 13:00: Lunch break (we always eat outside the unit).
  • 13:00 – 15:00: Sofa shampoo with extractor — three passes on the cushion fabric. Mattress steam in master and second bedroom. Both AC indoor unit louvres washed (full chemical service was advised separately for the master AC).
  • 15:00 – 17:00: Surface wipe-down across the whole unit — every door frame top, every skirting board, every light switch and power socket. Balcony glass cleaned both sides. Balcony floor wet-vacuumed.
  • 17:00 – 18:00: Floors mopped twice (detergent then clean water). Furniture moved back. Curtains rehung. Final supervisor walk-through with Mr. Lim.

Result

Mr. Lim's wife messaged us the next morning to say the master bedroom no longer smelled stale and they'd slept "the best in months." A WhatsApp follow-up two weeks later confirmed the difference held. We scheduled them onto an 8-week deep-clean rhythm with weekly maintenance cleans in between.

Specific outcomes worth flagging:

  • Tile grout in both bathrooms returned to a near-uniform white. The shower-floor grout — the worst — went two shades lighter but didn't fully match unscarred grout (a sign the original sealing had eroded; we recommended re-sealing for the future).
  • Shower glass cleared of the limescale dot pattern. Now needs only weekly maintenance with a squeegee to stay clear.
