Mattress + Sofa Combo Clean — Bandar Tasik Puteri Condo
Ms. Priya had been putting off the clean for months — her king mattress hadn't been touched in five years and the 3-seater fabric sofa was pushing three. An allergy-prone owner looking for a combo discount, she found Alpha's steam extraction package and booked a single 5-hour slot to tackle both in one go at RM 380, saving RM 100 versus separate bookings.
Ms. Priya's condo at Bandar Tasik Puteri is on the quieter end of Puchong — nicely furnished, tidy common areas, but the master bedroom and living room had two items that hadn't seen a professional clean since she moved in. She'd seen us on a neighbour's Instagram story and sent a single WhatsApp message: "Can I get a combo price for mattress and sofa same day?" That's exactly what our Steam Extraction Combo Package is designed for.
Ms. Priya had been sneezing every morning for as long as she could remember. She'd tried antihistamines, changed her pillow covers, even moved the bedroom fan to a different angle. The mattress — a king she'd bought when she moved in five years ago — had never been steamed. The sofa, a three-seater fabric piece in the living room, was pushing three years old and had accumulated the kind of subtle, stale smell that you only notice when guests arrive.
She'd googled mattress cleaning Puchong and seen enough to know she needed professional extraction rather than a surface spray. When she spotted the combo discount on our services page, she didn't hesitate. The brief was clear: steam both, use anti-allergen treatment, get it done on a weekday morning while she worked from home in the second bedroom.
This kind of single-specialist, same-day combo is one of the most common jobs we run across Puchong — two items, one visit, one flat price. We've refined the sequence so that both items are fully dry before the end of the booking window.
What We Found On Walkthrough
Mei Ling arrived at 9:50am for a quick walk-through before unloading the equipment. The findings on both items were consistent with their age and usage history:
King mattress — head-end press-sniff test: Pressing the heel of the hand into the mattress fabric at the pillow zone and immediately sniffing reveals the concentration of sweat salts, dead skin cells and dust mite waste that has settled in the top comfort layer over five years. Ms. Priya's mattress registered a clear musty note — not sharp or soiled, but the kind of baseline odour that becomes part of the room's smell profile without the occupant noticing. The mattress surface also showed faint outline stains at the head-end — sweat rings from two seasons of humid Puchong summers.
King mattress — lateral edge test: Running a gloved hand along the side seam piping picked up a grey-brown residue — fine dust and skin cell debris that accumulates in the tufting valleys and edge seams regardless of how often the cover is washed.
3-seater sofa — seat cushions: A dried coffee ring on the left seat cushion, roughly 12cm diameter, gone pale but still tactile when pressed. The fabric had absorbed the tannins and they'd partially fixed into the weave over time.
3-seater sofa — headrest and back cushion interior: The headrest zone on the centre and right seats had a visible oil shadow — hair product and scalp oil that transfers every time someone rests their head. This is the hardest zone on a fabric sofa because the oil penetrates the weave gradually rather than all at once, making it resistant to surface sprays. The back cushion zippers were pulled open to check the foam interior — no mould, but the foam had a faint musty smell consistent with the mattress, suggesting the living room had the same humidity exposure history.
Both items — anti-allergen priority: With Ms. Priya's stated allergy history, both items were flagged for a post-steam anti-allergen spray rather than the standard deodorant finish.
The Scope & Sequence
Five hours for two items sounds generous, but the steam extraction dwell time on a king mattress alone is 45–60 minutes if done properly — slow passes, overlapping strokes, a second dry-vacuum pass to lift extracted residue. The anti-allergen treatment then needs 20 minutes to dwell before the surface is declared ready. The sofa follows the same logic. Our standard combo sequence:
10:00 – 12:00 — Mattress steam extraction. Mattress rotated to a clear floor space away from the bed frame. Pre-treatment spray applied to the head-end and left seat zones to loosen the sweat salt deposits and edge residue. High-temperature steam extraction in slow overlapping passes — head to foot, then cross-passes at 90 degrees. Second dry-vacuum pass to lift extracted matter. Baking-soda absorption layer applied and left to sit for 25 minutes with the bedroom fan running at low speed. Vacuumed off. Final press-sniff at the head-end as quality check — neutral result sign-off.
12:00 – 12:20 — Anti-allergen treatment, mattress. Anti-allergen enzyme spray applied to the full mattress surface. Dwell time 20 minutes. Mattress positioned upright against the wall to allow air circulation on both sides.
12:20 – 14:20 — Sofa steam extraction. Seat cushions removed and cleaned individually — both surfaces of each cushion, not just the top face. The coffee ring on the left seat cushion was pre-treated with an enzyme stain remover and left to dwell for 15 minutes before the steam pass. Headrest zones treated with a dedicated upholstery degreaser before steam — oil-based soiling requires a different chemistry than water-based stains. Back cushion covers unzipped and the foam interiors placed in a ventilated area during the cleaning. Back panel (non-removable) steam-extracted in slow vertical passes.
14:20 – 14:40 — Anti-allergen treatment, sofa. Anti-allergen spray applied to all cushion surfaces and back panel. Dwell time 20 minutes with the living room window open.
14:40 – 15:00 — Final checks and handover. Both items inspected under natural light. Mattress returned to bed frame. Sofa cushions replaced. Ms. Priya invited for walk-through and smell-check on both items.
Two specific areas required extra time beyond the standard pass:
Mattress head-end — the press-sniff standard. The head-end is where the highest concentration of biological material accumulates — it's where your face rests every night for years. A standard steam pass improves it, but the baking-soda absorption step is what shifts the residual odour profile from "musty but cleaner" to genuinely neutral. We didn't sign off on the mattress until a press-sniff at the head-end returned no detectable scent. This took two baking-soda cycles rather than one because the odour profile was well-established over five years.
Sofa back-cushion zipper interior. Most cleaners treat the external sofa surface and call it done. Mei Ling's standard is to check the foam interior through the back cushion zippers — if the foam has absorbed humidity and begun developing a faint musty baseline, the surface clean won't resolve the smell fully. In this case the foam was dry and structurally sound, but the musty note was there. The foam interiors were placed in ventilated air for 90 minutes during the mattress clean and anti-allergen phases, which resolved the issue without needing replacement.
Coffee ring on left seat cushion. The 15-minute enzyme pre-treatment dwell followed by a targeted steam pass removed approximately 85–90% of the visual staining. Under direct sunlight a faint ghost outline remained — we explained this to Ms. Priya honestly and she was satisfied given the age of the stain. A professional spot treatment at a next visit would likely clear the remainder.
Handover & Customer Reaction
Ms. Priya did her walk-through at 2:55pm — five minutes early because she'd been watching through the bedroom doorway. The mattress test was the same press-sniff at the head-end she'd heard us talking about; she did it herself, laughed, and said "I can't smell anything." The sofa she tested by sitting in her usual spot — the right-end seat with the headrest — and leaning her head back against the cleaned headrest zone. "It smells like nothing. That's good right?" Yes. That's the target.
The allergy result came the next morning. Ms. Priya sent a follow-up WhatsApp at 7:15am: "Slept through the whole night. First time in months I didn't wake up sneezing." She asked about booking an annual combo — we've put her on a 12-month reminder cycle, mattress and sofa together, same combo pricing.
For Ms. Priya, the case was straightforward: two items that had never been professionally cleaned, an allergy-prone owner who hadn't connected the dots, and a combo package that made the economics easy. The mattress steam and sofa extraction are both available individually, but same-day combo bookings save RM 100 and consolidate the disruption to a single morning.
★★★★★
The combo price RM 380 vs RM 480 separate — that alone made me book. But the result was beyond what I expected. I've had dust allergies for years and that first night after the clean I slept through without sneezing once. The sofa doesn't smell stale anymore either. Already locked in the annual combo.
